Airola Road Vineyards

Rooted in Gold Country. Crafted with Intention

Luxury Estate Vineyard in California's Gold Country

Perched on a hilltop above New Melones Reservoir, Airola Road Vineyards spans 61 acres of estate-grown vines in the heart of the Sierra Foothills. Since 2001, we have tended this land with care, stewards of a place where morning fog rises from the water, summer winds sweep across the ridge, and the ancient rhythms of Gold Country shape every vintage.

Our wines are born here, rooted in Calaveras County soil and crafted with quiet intention.

The Rarest Vine in Gold Country

OUR RAREST VARIETAL

Of the seven varietals we grow, one stands apart.

Sagrantino - an ancient Italian grape nearly lost to history, is among the rarest wine grapes cultivated in California. With fewer than 25 acres planted across the entire United States, our Sagrantino vines are a quiet act of ambition.

Known for its extraordinary depth, bold tannins, and the highest concentration of polyphenols of any wine grape in the world, Sagrantino thrives in the Mediterranean-like climate of our hilltop estate.

Seven estate-grown varietals, each shaped by the land where Sierra granite meets Calaveras clay.

Stewards of This Land

This hilltop has been many things over the centuries. Gold rush claim. Ranchland. Open sky. When we planted the first vines in 2001, we made a promise, to honor what was here and to craft something worthy of it. That promise shapes everything we do, from the way we farm to the wines we pour.
